I discovered 1000 Eyes, along with Cicada Sirens, through the soundtrack to the indie survival horror game Signalis (the gift that keeps on giving) (there’ll be another post to link to that parenthetical later). An incredible experience start to finish (especially after the additional inventory slots update), the soundtrack truly takes the world created by the devs and wraps it in a beautifully singed and blood-stained bow.

Duality is a chance to experience the artist unbound.

Once again I am realizing I’m not a music writer so fitting all my thoughts in a flowing narrative doesn’t work. Here’s the run down.

-The opening eponymous song, a dreamy, somewhat tense ambient track that welcomes you with a warning.

-The bulk of the album is sort sludgy trip-hop/lo-fi that would feel as at home in a coffee shop as it would in Silent Hill

-Magnetic Rose sounds more like Portishead then the couple of Portishead songs I was looking through trying to find that one Portishead song everyone knows for someone who hadn’t heard of Portishead

-Chained Moon Pendant is a pitch perfect Homage to Ditching the Detective from Silent Hill 3 without stepping on any toes

-Demon Graphics sounds like unused underwater level BGM from Sonic CD, which I thought was probably wrong but then I remembered that weird sonic with a human face you could unlock with a sound test which seemed kinda demonic so who knows

-The aptly named closer Ichi Plus makes me start the album over as soon as it finishes, just to get to the end again.

I have been listening to this album on repeat nonstop since I bought it like two weeks ago, highly recommended.
